Role
This role involves developing, implementing, managing, and assessing the School’s promotion and digital engagement strategies. The postholder will support initiatives to attract new students and highlight the School as the top choice for exceptional teaching and learning. They will also engage with current students through targeted communications strategies to enhance their experience. Additionally, the role focuses on maintaining strong alumni connections and increasing the School's visibility within the sector. The postholder will collaborate with colleagues across the School to ensure all promotional initiatives are coordinated and effectively support the School’s objectives.
The postholder will be expected to help build and contribute to informal networks of colleagues in similar roles in the eight departments that form the Science and Engineering (S&E) hub. These networks (or ‘forums’) are being established to share good practice, horizon scan, and network (including with colleagues from central professional service areas.
One of the aims going forwards will be to develop and move to similar processes across all departments in the S&E hub, whenever this adds value. The postholders contribution to supporting this flexible approach to hub working will be key to the success of the service.
Duties and responsibilities
Recruitment of new students
- Collaborate with Central University teams to deliver recruitment initiatives
- Support strategies to engage offer holders and maximise conversion
- Support with planning and delivery of events including Open Days, Offer Holder events, and Live Chats
- Support widening participation, employability, and outreach activities.
- Produce and analyse admissions data to inform recruitment strategies
Student and Alumni Engagement
- Develop and implement digital engagement strategies to enhance student experience
- Compose and distribute student newsletters.
- Support recruitment, selection, training, and management of Student Ambassadors within the School.
- Collaborate with the University’s Alumni and Engagement Team to produce Alumni Newsletters and manage online Alumni groups.
Website and Social Media Management
- Maintain and develop the School’s external education-related webpages
- Ensure website content adheres to University branding, copyright, GDPR, and accessibility requirements, and provides reliable information about the School’s educational offerings.
- Contribute content to University-wide web pages
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues who wish to develop education-related content on the website using the Content Management System (CMS). Supporting the development and design of new project subsites, working with colleagues to deliver appropriate functional web pages.
- Develop and post content to the School’s social media channels
Promotion of the School
- Generate news items about the School’s education-related activities, achievements, and events for internal and external audiences.
- Support the production of School-wide newsletters
Promotional Material Production
- Support the design and development of promotional materials across media platforms, in line with University branding, tone of voice, and visual identity guidelines.
- Coordinate photography and videography in line with GDPR, health and safety, and brand guidelines
Monitoring and Review
- Evaluate digital engagement using analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics)
- Provide data-driven recommendations to improve engagement and recruitment
- Monitor budgets and ensure effective use for promotional activities

Skills and experience
- An honours degree or equivalent relevant professional experience (Essential)
- Mathematics and English GCSE grade 5 and above (A-C) (Essential)
- Experience developing and implementing promotional and digital engagement strategies across various media for diverse audiences. (Essential)
- Experience in copywriting, editing, and proofreading to a high standard. (Essential)
- Experience planning and delivering successful events. (Essential)
- Ability to quickly grasp complex information and convey it in an accessible way. (Essential)
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating a collaborative approach. (Essential)
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy under pressure. (Essential)

Work on weekends will occasionally be required to support recruitment events.
Location
Hybrid – Gibbet Hill campus and working from home. Working pattern to be agreed with line manager.
