Job purpose:
To assist and support all staff and volunteers within Support Through Court (STC) Liverpool
To provide support to Litigants in person;
To assist and support the administration of the service by undertaking administrative tasks of the service and other STC projects as required, and as are appropriate to the post.
Principal duties and responsibilities: The role will encompass all of the following, but the balance of duties and responsibilities will be determined in discussion with the post holder’s line manager:
Assisting STC staff and student volunteers in all service activity, including attending and conducting client appointments, research, form filling, procedural support and providing emotional support to clients.
Duties and responsibilities
Providing assistance with day to day management of volunteers, under supervision, including: delegating daily tasks, ensuring volunteer welfare, supporting the volunteer induction process and assisting new recruits with their learning and development, maintaining regular communications with volunteers, managing the volunteer rota.
Assisting with fudraising through research, event planning, appeals, etc.
Attending external events at different office locations, such as universities, legal events etc.
Attending court with clients.
Supporting clients to access court with special measures/reasonable adjustments if required.
To assist and participate in the review and assessment of the appropriateness of cases for the service where appropriate, communicating with prospective clients and signposting them to other services if unable to support;
To assist in the development of policies, procedures and training sessions for the service;
To support the development, marketing and advertisement Support Through Court including, where directed, liaison with external agencies, law firms, members of the local judiciary, schools, colleges and community groups, advice agencies and other statutory and voluntary agencies;
To attend meetings both internally and externally that are relevant to the development, administration and delivery of the service and associated STC activity and other staff meetings, as appropriate;
To liaise with external practitioners, STC staff and volunteers over participating in STC activity;
To undertake administrative duties appropriate to the post, including adherence to University and STC procedures.
The post holder may be required to undertake any other duties, which may reasonably be required, as within the nature of the duties and responsibilities of the post, as defined.
