Role
This organisation is a growing and ambitious food manufacturing business based in Telford, specialising in the development and production of high quality nut based products for a broad range of retail and food service customers.
The business continues to invest in its manufacturing capability and product innovation strategy, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, category development and commercial growth. This role offers the opportunity to support the evolution of an established product range while contributing to the introduction of new, differentiated nut based products to market.
Our client is seeking a motivated and commercially minded New Product Development Technologist to join a growing and ambitious food manufacturing business.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of a new peanut butter production facility, supporting both product innovation and wider business growth. The successful candidate will play a key part in enhancing the existing product range while helping to bring new concepts to market.
Working closely with Sales, Technical, Production and Senior Leadership teams, you will support projects from initial concept through to launch, ensuring products meet customer expectations as well as quality and commercial requirements.
Due to the nature of the product portfolio, this role involves regular exposure to nut based ingredients.

Duties and responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of new product development (NPD) and existing product development (EPD) projects from initial concept through to launch
- Benchmark and enhance existing recipes and packaging formats
- Identify opportunities to introduce new products for both existing and prospective customers
- Work collaboratively with commercial teams to support growth objectives
- Coordinate project timelines, critical paths and effective cross functional communication
- Organise and lead factory trials alongside production and technical teams
- Prepare product samples and supporting documentation for customer submissions
- Maintain accurate project records, specifications and development documentation
- Ensure all new products meet relevant food legislation and retailer standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the NPD function
- Attend customer meetings and travel as required
- Participate in taste panels and work closely with nut based products as part of the development process

Experience & Qualifications
- Degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience)
- Experience within a food manufacturing NPD or technical environment is desirable
- Understanding of retailer requirements and food compliance would be advantageous
- Full UK driving licence
