Description

Role
As a Welcome Presenter you’ll deliver engaging and informative talks to audiences of over 500 new students. You’ll have the opportunity to train with the Student Welcome and Induction Team and fellow student presenters to hone valuable, real-life skills on stage (we are open to taking vital Linked-In profile shots!). 

As a Welcome Presenter, you’ll share your knowledge of UCL, answer questions, and make a real impact on students.

  • To support the Student Welcome and Induction team to deliver A Students’ Guide to UCL Talks and/or International Welcome Webinars and Q&A talks.
  • Work with other presenters to provide an engaging and consistent experience for all attendees.
  • Attend training in advance of Welcome Week.
  • Respond to emails and admin requests promptly.
  • Maintain professional punctuality and timekeeping.

Skills and experience
Essential Criteria:- 

  • Must be studying for a degree at UCL. This can be at undergraduate or postgraduate level.
  • Experience of public speaking. 
  • Knowledge of UCL services across the organisation (e.g. Student Support and Wellbeing Services, Library Services, Careers, Student Funding, Students’ Union UCL).
  • Good verbal communication skills.- Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Present complex information clearly and in an engaging manner.
  •  Ability to adapt to technical or logistical difficulties on the day.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping particularly in delivering presentations.
  • Being committed to UCL and taking pride in your work.
  • Communicating clearly so that everyone understands your message and intention.
  • Being open to change, and role-modelling simple consistent approaches.
 
Desirable Criteria:- 
  • Experience of collaborating in teams to prepare and deliver engaging presentations.

Pay Information:

Hourly Pay: £14.85

Holiday Pay: £2.78
