Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Teaching and Learning Administrator within the Department of Security and Crime Science. The role is to work the date of Monday 13th April 2026 and will run until Friday 13th November 2026 full time at 36.5 hours per week . Payment is set at £19.14+ holiday pay per hour and the role will be HYBRID based.

University College London (UCL) is a multi-faculty college of the University of London with a population of over 36,000 students.

The Department of Security & Crime Science (DSCS) is the first university department in the world devoted to Crime Science. Research is concentrated on new ways to cut crime, drawing upon a variety of disciplines across the social, physical and life sciences.

The post holder will join our Teaching and Learning team who are responsible for the department’s undergraduate programme and postgraduate programmes, some of which are available through distance learning.

Under the direction of the Senior Teaching and Learning Administrator and in conjunction with relevant academic staff, the postholder will provide specialist administration to the designated teaching programmes. This post will assist in achieving a high quality and timely service to current and prospective students, and staff relating to the designated courses/programmes and beyond. The role will provide support for all matters relating to the teaching and learning activities of students from enquiry to completion, incorporating supporting committees and processes relating to assessment, student and course records.

 The role holder will focus on communication with students in terms of attendance, engagement and progression. The role holder must be efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail; be able to respond to queries and address circumstances in a timely and supportive manner, focusing on the students’ learning experience and maintaining an awareness of student wellbeing matters. In addition, the role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook are required in order to adequately execute the duties outlined.

The role is available for 6 months in the first instance.

Duties and responsibilities

Student experience and support as first point of contact for students, maintaining student files, monitoring student attendance, arranging personal tutor meetings, confirming engagement for Tier 4 students and processing course changes. Processing cases relating to extenuating circumstances, academic misconduct and reasonable adjustment requests. Liaising with personal tutors, student advisor, Faculty administrators while being responsible for student communication and engagement.

Programme/course administration including facilitating admissions, organising induction, timetabling, teaching materials and disseminating programme procedures and regulations.

Examinations and assessment support including processing of final marks, co-ordinating and producing. mark sheets for examinations; undertaking arrangements for Board of examiners. Servicing committees and meetings and producing reports for auditing and planning purposes. General administrative support as and when required.

Skills and experience

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (Including Mathematics and English Language) or equivalent, or having acquired relevant experience.
  • Educated to A level standard, or equivalent experience such as report writing.
  • Administration in higher/further education or a teaching and learning environment
  • Course/Programme administration
  • Computer literate, including Word, Excel, Outlook, email and internet
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills (including accurate grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of people, including the ability to relate to staff and students in a teaching and learning context
  • Ability to deal with high volumes of processing, prioritising and organising own workload
  • Ability to work accurately and with high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Be willing and able to learn and use new systems quickly, including UCL specific systems such as Portico
  • Commitment to high quality service provision
