Role

Duties and responsibilities
Research and communication
- To participate in knowledge exchange activities with relevant external stakeholders.
- To prepare a communication and dissemination plan for the sanitation comic book to be delivered by the Visual arts production company.
- To communicate research outcomes nationally and internationally through various mediums (such as visual arts) and platforms.
- To support the visual arts production company to set their work through preparing project background information (e.g., previous research summary report, PPT slides etc) and support the delivery of two knowledge exchange workshops related to the comic book development.
- To work closely with the project Visual arts production company based in South Africa and the project partner at eThekwini Municipality to ensure timely delivery of project outputs.
- To deliver a set outputs based on the project findings such as graphic visualisation, project brief and peer-reviewed journal article.
Administration
- To arrange meetings, manage agendas and to take minutes for the project team meetings.
- To support and the preparation and delivery of two hybrid research dissemination and knowledge exchange workshops with relevant stakeholders from eThekwini Municipality in Durban, service users and other stakeholders at the beginning and the ending of the project. This includes documentation of the workshops’ learnings and recommendations.
- To liaise with the Principal Investigator, other co-investigators, visual arts production company, and the practice partner in Durban to ensure effective communication and coordination of project activities.
- To support project compliance with funder requirements for financial tracking, collation of invoices and receipts, and project reporting.
Skills and experience
Qualifications, experience and knowledge
- Relevant academic background such as Human geography, environmental science, social science and others.
- A working knowledge of sanitation infrastructure delivery, particularly in low-income settings.
- Experience in providing administrative support to research projects.
Skills and abilities
- Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with academic and creative arts teams.
- Ability to deliver to strict deadlines (e.g. project reports and outputs).
- Ability to work independently and as part of team.
- Excellent report writing and IT skills.
Location
UCL; hybrid working, part from the office and part from home
