Location: Rural site – drivers with access to their own transport are essential

Contract Type: Temporary, Part Time

Duration: April – August (approx.)

Hours: Part time, flexible shifts during peak visitor periods

Join a welcoming and supportive team dedicated to delivering a positive and memorable experience for visitors during a busy seasonal period. You will play a key role in providing friendly, efficient service within a popular visitor centre tea room, helping to ensure guests feel valued and well looked after at all times.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with a wide range of people, thrive in fast paced environments, and take pride in maintaining high standards of customer service. A positive attitude and attention to detail are essential to support the smooth day to day running of the tea room throughout the season.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide a warm welcome to visitors and assist them throughout their visit
  • Prepare and serve a range of hot and cold beverages, plated meals, cakes, and snacks with consistency and care
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the tea room, including tables, counters, equipment, and serving areas
  • Operate the till and payment systems accurately, handling card and cash transactions securely
  • Restock ingredients and consumables in line with demand to support efficient service
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to manage busy periods effectively and maintain high service standards
  • Follow all health, hygiene, and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for visitors and staff
  • Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors to highlight any issues or special requirements

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage positively with visitors
  • A customer focused approach with confidence in delivering friendly, attentive service
  • Basic numeracy skills for payment handling
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team
  • Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a busy, fast paced environment
  • Commitment to maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards
  • Ability to drive and access to your own transport (location not accessible by public transport)

Desirable

  • Experience in hospitality, catering, or customer service
  • Familiarity with food safety practices and hygiene standards
  • Previous use of point of sale (POS) systems or experience handling cash
  • An interest in visitor engagement and working within a public facing leisure or tourism environment
