Description
Role
This is a student role, working across campus and within the Careers Hub. Future Makers will provide information about the Careers & Employability service as well as support the mass engagement of students by encouraging students to access a wide array of opportunities, events and support.
The role consists of taking a proactive approach in supporting students in resolving queries, promoting relevant opportunities as well as assisting in the delivery of careers related activities including the Festival of Careers and workshops.
Working hours: Successful candidates could be working up to 20 hours per week, usually in shifts of approximately 3 hours.
Duties and responsibilities
- Respond to Careers & Employability enquiries from students in person and online
- Promote Careers & Employability activities (e.g., 1-2-1 appointments, workshops and events) to students through in person and online communication channels.
- Source and promote opportunities for students to apply for by adding them to online opportunity boards and promotional channels including social media
- Provide a front of house service (I.e., answer questions from students, help students make appointments, signposting to relevant events and activities)
- Creating and promoting social media content
- Support the planning and delivery of workshops and event
Skills and experience
Essential
- Currently studying at the University of Leicester*
- Experience of public speaking or presenting
- Excellent interpersonal skills, being able to approach, talk to and actively engage a wide variety of students (in person or via phone)*
- Ability to work independently *
- Excellent time management skills (reliable and punctual)
- Good problem-solving skills
- Use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint)
Desirable
- Undertaken a work-related experience (part-time job, placement, internship)
- Experience in a customer service environment
- Promoting and recommending activities to people
- Creating of social media content
- Ability to work within a team
- Experience of attending an appointment or careers event in the last 12 months
