Role
***Ringfenced to current Level 5 and 6 LJMU students who are care leavers, care -experienced or estranged from their family and supporting themselves independently *** 

 
 

Duties and responsibilities

  • To undertake case management duties within the paralegal team.
  • To help prosecutors as part of the overall prosecution team, in the preparation and progression of summary trial cases in the magistrates’ court.
  • Manage the ongoing progression of Crown Court casework from receipt of file, through to post court conclusion, attending Crown Court where necessary.
  • Deal effectively and timeously with all casework tasks associated with case preparation and case progression, independently and in partnership with prosecutors, fellow paralegal staff, casework assistants and external stakeholders.

Skills and experience

  • Experience of working collaboratively with others
  • An interest in the work of the Crown Prosecution Service
  • Knowledge of the wider Criminal Justice System
  • Excellent communication skills
