The purpose of this role is to conduct market research and competitor analysis to support the launch of a new Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) consultancy product and service that Inclusion and Diversity in Nuclear (IDN) is bringing to market.

This internship sits within the organisations strategic business delivery function and involves close collaboration with colleagues working in research and development.

Duties and responsibilities
Duties will include:

  • Desktop Market Research and Analysis: Investigate the potential target market for the new product and service, including identifying and reviewing potential client organisations to prioritise during the initial launch phase.
  • Desktop Competitor Research and Analysis: Analyse the competitive landscape, assess existing EDI consultancy offerings, identify gaps and differentiators, and benchmark IDNʼs product positioning against sector and wider STEM industry competitors.
  • Communication: Prepare concise written reports, summaries, and insight briefs. Contribute to strategic recommendations based on market, client, and competitor research findings.
  • Marketing Asset Development: Support the creation of marketing materials for newsletters, social media, and the organisationʼs website to assist with the product and service launch.

Skills and experience

  • Research Skills: Ability to conduct structured desktop research, evaluate information from multiple sources, and summarise findings clearly.
  • Analytical Thinking: Comfortable reviewing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data to generate insights that support decision making and market positioning.
  • Microsoft Office Suite Familiarity: Ability to use Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to support research activities, carry out analysis, and assist with report writing and the creation of basic marketing assets.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy in gathering, organising, and presenting information, ensuring reliability of research outputs and reports.
  • Written Communication: Ability to create clear, concise reports, summaries, and draft marketing copy for newsletters, social media, and web content.
  • Initiative and Curiosity: A willingness to ask questions, seek clarification, explore industry context, and proactively identify patterns or opportunities through research.
  • Collaboration in Remote Environments: Comfortable working independently while maintaining regular communication and contributing effectively within a remote or hybrid team.
