Role
To deliver high quality administrative support to facilitate the effective and efficient operation of the Department’s examination processes. The post holders will be part of a team processing undergraduate and postgraduate examination scripts to ensure that correct marks are available for the examination boards.

Duties and responsibilities

 

  • Provide administrative support for the summer examination marking and moderation process.
  • Daily delivery and collection of large numbers of exam question papers and answer booklets to and from exam venues.
  • separation and then recombining of exam answer booklets.
  • Liaise with markers/moderators to inform them that the exam scripts are ready for marking and moderating and inform them of the deadline for returning marked/moderated work.
  • Update the exam script tracking log (Excel) so all exam scripts can be tracked at each stage of the marking and moderating process.
  • Conduct an administrative check on scripts to ensure all questions have been marked and that marks have been totalled correctly and match the mark in the exam database.
  • Monitor the Exams resources email account, responding to and categorising enquiries as appropriate..
  • Barcoding and scanning exam scripts for archiving.
  • Provide invigilation for in-person, in-department exams.
  • Support any other aspects of the examinations process as required.
  • Provide key administrative assistance up to and during September exam period.
  • Liaise with Exams Coordinator on daily workload allocations.
  • Coordination of daily admin checking process

Skills and experience

  • Good general education to A level standard
  • Mathematics and English GCSE grade A –C (or equivalent)
  • Excellent organisation skill with a high level of attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate new systems and processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team. Ability to handle highly confidential material with discretion.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Exam administration and/or invigilation experience (desirable)
