Description
Role
To support with the delivery of examinations and preparation for Summer board of examiners meetings. Lead quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy and consistency of mark entry, recording of decisions and communication of results.
Duties and responsibilities
- Plan and oversee the cycle of examination administration, including supporting the exams marks process and co-ordinating the recording and implementation of alternative arrangements and reasonable adjustments for students who have declared a disability.
- Share in overseeing the planning and coordination of progression and award, ensuring that documentation is collated and submitted on time, that student records are kept up to date, following up on outcomes and liaising with students, Internal and External Examiners, and the Modules, Marks and Assessment Team.
- Act as a senior invigilator for in-department examinations for students with alternative exam arrangements. Provide authoritative guidance and support to a team of student invigilators. Support with the creation and dissemination of examination materials.
- Review suggested outcomes and update decision record logs for student progression and award. Lead on quality assurance processes for marks and decisions.
- Act as secretary to Academic Misconduct Panels and support Exam Secretaries with preparation of materials for Board of Examiners meetings.
- Coordinate the communication of results, ensuring that students receive clear and concise information about their next steps.
- Undertake any other duties in support of the wider student support teams or as directed by the Programme Administrator or Taught Programmes Manager.
Skills and experience
- Experience of university administration particularly with regards to examinations.
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple, tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and develop effective and positive working relationships with staff and students.
- Excellent IT skills (word processing, spreadsheets and email), including the ability to learn how to use new software packages rapidly (including bespoke university software)
- Ability to learn procedures rapidly and apply them accurately and appropriately with strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility to undertake occasional Saturday work to support delivery of examinations.
