Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Research Assistant. This role is for an asap start date and has a projected end date of July 31st 2026. This is a part-time role at 12 hours per week. Payment is set at £20.57 per hour + £3.85 holiday pay. This role will be UCL remote working from home.

Duties and responsibilities

Research

  • To conduct a literature review on the topic and develop an excel based tool to estimate carbon footprint and end-of-life of solar products in Bboxx Kenya.
  • To develop an excel based tool for estimating carbon footprint and emissions of end-of-life solar products.
  • To familiarise themselves with previous work on end of life solar in Kenya.
  • To arrange meetings, manage agendas and to take minutes for the project team meetings.
  • To support and the preparation and delivery of a peer review journal publication.

Skills and experience

Qualifications, experience and knowledge

  • Relevant academic background such as environmental science, engineering, maths or human geography.
  • A working knowledge of energy infrastructure delivery, particularly in low-income settings.
  • Experience in providing administrative support to research projects.

Skills and abilities

  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with academic and industry.
  • Ability to deliver to strict deadlines (e.g. project reports and outputs).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of team.
  • Excellent report writing and IT skills.
