Description

Role

This is a 8-week paid internship opportunity in collaboration with Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), as part of the WMG Internship Programme. The intern will be employed at Lakervent Engineering and will play a key role in supporting the design and build of a new HR Portal system. This is a hands-on internship and an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in full-stack software development in a real manufacturing business environment.

The Full Stack Development Intern at Lakervent Engineering will support the development of a secure, browser-based HR Portal to improve and streamline key HR processes, including employee records, recruitment handover, onboarding, training and compliance tracking, holiday/absence access, and related HR workflows.

The intern will work closely with Lakervent Engineering stakeholders (including HR and internal IT support) to translate business requirements into a working application. The project will be delivered iteratively, with weekly demonstrations and feedback, and the intern will contribute to both technical delivery and solution refinement based on end-user input.

A key part of the role is the use of AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate delivery. The successful candidate will use modern AI coding tools to support code generation, refinement, and productivity, while applying good software engineering judgement, testing, and secure coding practices.

By the end of the internship, the successful candidate will have:
  • Contributed to a working HR Portal for a live business use case
  • Built practical experience in full-stack web development (.NET / C# / SQL / JavaScript)
  • Gained experience applying AI developer tools in a professional software project
  • Worked directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and refine features
  • Developed confidence in delivering software in an iterative, user-focused way

As part of the WMG Internship Programme, the intern will also benefit from structured mentoring and regular supervision.

There may be an opportunity for a longer-term role with Lakervent Engineering for the right candidate, subject to performance and business needs.
