The primary purpose of this role is to encourage active participation and engagement of children and families in the Talent 25 programme and with the programme team enhance opportunities to embed creative and cultural activities as part of their everyday life. The successful candidate will be people focused, innovative, and versatile in their approach, demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships with research participants and the Talent 25 team and stakeholders.The suggested start date will be 01/04/2026 with an expected closing date of 31/03/2027, you will work on a hybrid basis 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday will occassional weekend work.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To be a point of contact for the Talent 25 children and their families, providing information and liaising with the appropriate Talent 25team members and external agencies to enable families to continue involvement with the programme and cultural activities.
  • They will also be responsible for maintaining the programme directory that includes information on local artists, events and providers, and provide information and signpost families to a range of activities and resources in their local area that will support them in their cultural journey. This includes liaising with participants to discuss their cultural journey.
  • Coordinate and work in partnership with the family forum to support the programmes co-production activities.
  • Develop relationships with families to identify and implement solutions for barriers they are experiencing in engaging with the research programme, including participation in creative and cultural activities.
  • Maintain records of children and families' engagement in cultural activities and always comply with data protection guidelines and confidentiality
  • Establish and sustain existing partnerships with local community groups, businesses, service providers, and other organisations, to encourage local collaboration in creative and cultural provision and enhance opportunities for children and families.
  • Support the commissioning of creative activities, including
  • undertaking appropriate risk assessments and providing administrative support, including organising the creative activities/events, booking centres/events and transferring materials to centres.
  • Encourage and support where necessary parents to self-complete the programme survey and related research activities to understand their personal goals and enable engagement in cultural activities.
  • Organise and deliver information to the Talent 25 families through social media platforms such as Talent 25 Twitter, Facebook and Instagram to enable effective advocacy and engagement of the programme.
  • Working with Talent 25 colleagues, plan and deliver outreach and reconnecting activities to thank and involve research participants for their continuing contribution to the study, e.g. writing to participants, organising social gatherings, attending meetings, etc.
  • Provide administrative support including for the programme socialmedia platforms.

Skills and experience

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant subject (e.g., community engagement, participation) or demonstrable relevant work experience.

  • Experience working with a diverse range of children and families to encourage engagement in cultural or research activities.

  • Knowledge of barriers individuals and communities face when engaging in creative and cultural activities.

  • Experience developing and sustaining partnerships with local organisations, including health and voluntary sector organisations.

  • Knowledge of local arts and cultural provision, including the Arts Council England Let’s Create Strategy.

  • Awareness of the principles of community engagement and participation.

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal, organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, external partners, and diverse families.

  • Ability to communicate verbally with members of the public, individually and in groups, adapting communication style to different audiences.

  • Flexible, adaptable, solution-focused self-motivator able to take personal responsibility.

  • Experience conducting surveys with understanding of ethical principles and GDPR.

  • Knowledge of community outreach and engagement techniques, including asset-based community engagement principles.

  • Understanding of supporting access and participation in creative and cultural activities for diverse individuals, including disadvantaged groups.

  • Experience producing reports, action plans, and using Microsoft software.

  • Knowledge of Leicester communities and community groups.

  • Commitment to observing equality, diversity, and data protection policies.

  • Willingness to work across Leicester on and off campus, with awareness of personal safety and lone working principles.

  • This role is subject to a DBS check; the level will be determined at the offer stage.
