The Research Assistant will support an ongoing research project examining how memory processes influence decision-making related to climate change. The role will involve assisting with participant recruitment, data collection, and data analysis. The post-holder will also support the preparation and organisation of research materials and datasets.

The Role will be hybrid- the candidate will need to be able to come on campus for data collection and recruitment and meetings. You will typically be asked to come in 3 days a week, though you will need to be flexible with days/hours you come in. 

The role is to start 06/04/2026 until 30/06/2026

Duties and responsibilities

Research Administration

Assist with the organisation and coordination of research activities.

Maintain accurate records of study procedures and participant data in accordance with ethical and data protection guidelines.

Support scheduling of research sessions and participant communication.

Participant Recruitment

Assist in recruiting participants through approved channels (e.g., online recruitment platforms, mailing lists, posters, and social media).

Manage participant sign-ups and maintain recruitment logs.

Data Collection

Administer surveys, experimental tasks, and questionnaires either online or in-person.

Data Management and Analysis

Enter, clean, and organise datasets.

Conduct basic statistical analyses using SPSS.

Assist in preparing materials for ethics applications or amendments.

Support literature searches and referencing where required.

Skills and experience

Essential Criteria

Undergoing or have completed undergraduate degree in Psychology or a closely related discipline.

Basic knowledge of experimental research methods.

Technical Skills

Experience using SPSS for data entry and basic statistical analysis.

Competence with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).

Communication and Organisation

Good organisational skills and ability to manage research tasks.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interact professionally with research participants.

Other

Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team.

Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high research standards.

Desirable Criteria

Experience conducting online experiments (e.g., Qualtrics, Gorilla, Pavlovia).

Familiarity with cognitive psychology, memory research, or decision-making research.

Experience recruiting participants through online platforms (e.g., Prolific).

Experience assisting with psychological research or behavioural experiments.

Experience with participant recruitment and data collection.
