Role
Being a digital ambassador is a fantastic opportunity to build your digital skills whilst documenting your experiences at university. As you know, here at Harper Adams, we have a close-knit community filled with talented individuals across a variety of exciting course areas – and we want to hear from you! So how can you make the difference?
We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic students with great communication skills to create engaging content for our current and prospective students across our digital platforms. Attention to detail and effective writing skills are imperative to ensure the content is legible and understandable to all audiences.
Duties and responsibilities
As a digital ambassador, you will mostly be working independently on content so it’s important that you can effectively time manage and communicate with the team about the projects you are working on where necessary. Most importantly, you need to have a good understanding of social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok, so having knowledge of social media etiquette is crucial – don’t be scared to whack a few emojis in there!
You will also have the opportunity to put forward ideas and express your creativity whilst talking about your student experience, as well as our fantastic campus and facilities.
More than anything else, our digital ambassadors need to show enthusiasm and passion for Harper Adams University, ultimately “selling” the university experience to our current and prospective students.
- Capture and share content from on-campus events, student activities and university life
- Write blogs and short-form copy for the University website and digital channels
- Interview students and staff for short videos and written features - Support the Communications and Student Recruitment teams with video and content projects
- Contribute ideas for content and campaigns, bringing creativity and an authentic student perspective
- Plan, organise and manage content independently, meeting deadlines and communicating progress effectively
- Engage with prospective students through platforms such as UniBuddy
Skills and experience
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Confidence in creating content for social media platforms, particularly Instagram and TikTok
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Video creation and editing skills (training can be provided)
- Confident and enthusiastic
- Good time-management skills
- Knowledgeable about the institution
- An understanding of social media platforms (including Instagram, TikTok)
Following the application process, the successful candidates will have the opportunity to have an informal interview with members of the Communications and Student Recruitment team about the next steps to becoming a Digital Ambassador – including a training session delivered by us.
