Description
Role
University College Birmingham (UCB) runs a number of courses with maths elements (for example, Finance and Accounting, Nursing, Engineering and Construction).
The Academic Skills Centre (ASC) at UCB is looking to enhance its offer by providing 1:1 maths/statistical support for students. This support would be delivered online via Teams in the form of 1:1 appointments.
Duties and responsibilities
As part of this process, we welcome applications from postgraduate students who have A-Level maths. Experience of delivering this support previously is desirable, but not essential. Given the nature of the courses involved, support may be required with (but not limited to):
- sine rule/cosine rule/trig functions
- simultaneous equations
- scale and proportion
- probability
- ratio
- percentages >decimals > fractions
- profit and loss calculations
- algebra
- differential equations
Skills and experience
Successful applicants would have experience of working with systems such as SPSS and would be comfortable advising students on descriptive and inferential statistics.

Additional information
The successful applicant (s) would be required to cover four hours of scheduled appointments per week this semester. Where appointments do not fill, the successful applicant (s) will be required to develop possible resources
