Role
We are looking for current Heriot-Watt undergraduate students to help new students get started during Welcome Week in September 2026 at Edinburgh and Scottish Borders Campuses. New Students value hearing from current students about their experiences of what Heriot-Watt is really like and any hints and top tips that they can offer. This is a paid position, with hourly pay of £12.64. Also, experience as a Student Ambassador is a great addition to your CV.
online application form. - Make sure you are available to come to a mandatory information session on Monday 4th May at 10.00 am. Active participation in this session will be part of the selection process, so treat it like a job interview and actively participate. It will also offer vital information which will prepare you for the role. This session will be paid (two hours).
- Make sure you are available during Welcome Week (7th to 11th September 2026) so you can work during new student induction.
Duties and responsibilities
- Facilitating sessions and speaking to groups of new students.
- Talking about your experiences of being a Heriot-Watt student.
- Answering students' questions.
- Advising students of practical matters relating to student life e.g. accessing Canvas.
- Helping generate content for pre-entry messages to incoming new students
- Other duties as they arise
Skills and experience
Must be current Undergraduate Heriot-Watt student at either Edinburgh or Borders Campus.
