Description

Role
The Central Events Team are looking to run a focus group in order to gain a deeper understanding of how students feel about University organised events and how these can be improved. Your insights will directly influence the development of future welcome activities and wider student experience events.

The focus group will take place on Tuesday 24th March, 2-4pm.

The session will run as a small, informal discussion where you’ll be invited to share your views openly. You’ll take part in guided conversations about welcome events—specifically those taking place during the September welcome period when new students join the University—as well as current student experience activities throughout the year.

Prompts and questions will help shape the discussion, and because the session relies on active participation, we’re looking for students who feel comfortable speaking in a group and expressing their opinions.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Share honest views and experiences as a current student on University run events (e.g., Halloween, Winter Wonderland)
  • Provide feedback on welcome events during the September welcome period, including what worked well, what felt less useful, and what could make them more engaging
  • Discuss expectations for future welcome activities and suggest ideas to improve the transition experience for new students
  • Evaluate current student experience events and identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
  • Contribute to open discussions in a small group setting, listening to others and building on shared ideas
  • Offer practical suggestions that reflect the needs and interests of the wider student community

Skills and experience

  • Must be available on Tuesday 24th March from 2-4pm
  • All participants must be current students at the University of Leicester
  • Strong verbal communication skills are essential
  • Ability to contribute to open discussions in a small group setting

Location
Ogden Lewis, Seminar Room 3
