Role
In this role, you will provide a student perspective to help innovate teaching methods. You will also be assisting with daily and weekly tasks aimed to build your digital forensics/investigations knowledge and to support to the team.
The position offers an opportunity to develop subject knowledge and practical skills in forensic investigation / digital forensics while contributing to course innovation and student engagement initiatives.
Duties and responsibilities
- Recording and maintaining a variety of mock digital device exhibits and equipment including mobile phones, storage devices, cables and digital forensic tool packs
- Testing digital forensic tool capabilities and features to ascertain their potential use in research or teaching
- Partaking in the creation of digital forensic data sets and activities for use in school & college outreach activities
- Testing new learning activities provide feedback, such as carrying out mock exercises in the Forensic Simulation Suite or partaking in drone tasks
- Perform action research on new technology and developments in the digital sector
- Supporting recruitment activities by contributing to open days, applicant experience events, and outreach workshops, including delivering demonstrations and engaging prospective students in digital forensic activities
- Contributing to the design, development, and updating of recruitment and learning materials, including practical exercises, scenario-based activities, and supporting resources to enhance teaching delivery
- Work collaboratively with members of the Forensic Investigation and Science teaching team, demonstrating flexibility in supporting a range of academic, practical, and outreach activities as required
- Where appropriate, and where knowledge exists, support the delivery of lectures and practical sessions, assisting teaching staff to enhance student learning.
Skills and experience
- A basic understanding of forensics or policing
- Familiarity with using common technology, such as iOS and Android
- An enthusiasm for helping trial new teaching methods
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Enthusiasm for supporting innovative teaching methods and enhancing student learning
- Good communication skills, particularly when engaging with prospective students or external visitors.
Person specification:
A great candidate for this role will have strong organisational skills and a basic understanding of forensics or policing. You must have completed a relevant Level 4 or Level 5 module relating to digital investigations or digital forensics.
