The Teaching and Learning Academy is looking for three Level 4 students to act as critical friends for our Pre‑Arrival Student Facing Report. The report looks at what students knew before joining LJMU, what they wish they’d known, and which pre‑arrival resources they actually used. Your honest input will help us improve future emails, guides, and support so that new students have an even smoother start to university life.
We’re looking for 3 students to join this project, with each person completing up to 6 hours of paid work. It’s a short, fast‑moving project where your feedback will make a big difference to how new students experience LJMU. If you’re honest, reliable, and happy to share your thoughts, we’d love to have you involved!
Duties and responsibilities
The role will consist of: Reviewing draft emails and communication materials related to the report.Provide honest, constructive feedback on tone, clarity, accessibility and usefulness.Take part in testing the final mailing of the report (checking flow, functionality, and student‑friendliness).Offer insight into the student perspective, highlighting anything unclear, missing, or disengaging.
Skills and experience
What we’re looking for:
Someone reliable who can come along to the review sessions and help with quick testing tasks. A student who’s honest, observant, and comfortable giving clear feedback we can use. Someone with a good eye. You notice what works, what doesn’t, and you’re happy to say it kindly. No special skills needed at all, just your experience of being a recent new starter at LJMU.
What you’ll gain:
Experience working with the Teaching and Learning Academy Team. A behind‑the‑scenes look at how LJMU communicates with new students. Experience and examples you can use on your CV when applying for future opportunities. The chance to shape pre‑arrival support and help make the transition easier for future students.
