Role
An engineering consultancy based in Guildford, specialising in bespoke investigation and testing services. Committed to delivering ingenious, practical, and reliable solutions, They serve clients across various industries with a focus on innovation and excellence in engineering and technology.
They are offering an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate engineering student to join their team for ad-hoc paid work experience. As a Student Engineer you will have the chance to gain hands-on experience and contribute to real-world engineering projects under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Assist in Engineering Investigations: Work alongside our engineering team to conduct investigations and analyses for client projects. This may involve performing tests, collecting data, and documenting findings.
2. Support Testing Procedures: Assist in setting up and carrying out various testing procedures in our workshop or at a client site. This could include mechanical or materials testing depending on project requirements.
3. Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyse test results and assist in preparing technical reports for clients. You will have the opportunity to learn how to effectively communicate engineering findings in a clear and concise manner.
4. Collaborate with Team Members: Collaborate with engineers and technicians to solve technical challenges and contribute to project brainstorming sessions. Your fresh perspective and enthusiasm will be valued as part of our team.
5. Contribute to Innovation: Share ideas and insights on potential improvements to testing methodologies or procedures. They value innovation, and encourage their interns to contribute their creativity to ongoing projects.
Skills and experience
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate engineering-related program (Mechanical, Civil, Materials, or related field).
- Strong academic record with a keen interest in engineering and technology.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work well in a team environment and willingness to learn from experienced professionals.
- Willingness to travel (including occasional overnight stays) and/or to work on sites, including active construction sites.
- Prior experience with engineering projects, construction projects, or laboratory work is desirable but not required.
