Big Heart Book Club is a children’s book subscription and social impact company on a mission to diversify the stories children grow up with. Through joyful, inclusive storytelling, we work to challenge inequality and help children see themselves and others in the books they read. We serve families, schools, and communities, championing diverse representation and accessibility in literature.
 
This internship has teh potential to extend into a permanent or freelance oppurtunity. 

Duties and responsibilities
As our Content Creation Assistant, you'll join a small, creative team and play a key role in shaping our digital voice and visual identity. This role sits within our marketing and engagement department, working closely with the co-founders and external creatives. You’ll contribute to our social media strategy, help develop engaging digital content and support our campaigns across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, digital ad campaigns, our website and email newsletters.

 
We’re looking for someone with passion, curiosity and creative flair — who wants their work to make a genuine difference. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in content creation, brand building and mission-driven storytelling, with room to grow and shape the role as the company scales.

Skills and experience
We are looking for a final-year undergraduate with a passion for digital storytelling, social equity and creative communication.

 
Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong interest in multimedia content creation, especially short-form video (e.g. Instagram Reels, TikTok)
  • Confidence using editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or equivalent) to create polished, engaging videos
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
  • An understanding of social media platforms and trends
  • Commitment to the values of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Ability to take initiative, pitch creative ideas and adapt in a start-up environment
Preferred Degree Subjects:
  • Media, Communications, Film Production, Journalism
  • Digital Marketing
  • Graphic Design
  • Creative Arts / Visual Communication
  • English / Literature / Cultural Studies
