The Project Co-ordinator will support the planning, development, and coordination of a World Cup 2026–inspired community engagement project within the shopping centre. The role will involve brining ideas together, supporting day-to-day organisation, and ensuring the project runs smoothly from concept through to delivery. Liaising with internal teams, retailers, and external partners may be required, as well as monitoring the progress of the project throughout and providing a project evaluation at the end.

Duties and responsibilities
Key Deliverables:

  • A written project proposal outlining the campaign concept and rationale
  • A high-level activation plan and timeline
  • Visual or creative mock-ups (where applicable)
  • Recommendations for scalability and future application
  • A final presentation to centre management
Learning Outcomes:
  • Real-world experience in retail marketing and placemaking
  • Strategic thinking around large-scale events and community engagement
  • Stakeholder collaboration and creative problem-solving
  • Project planning, presentation, and professional communication skills

The project co-ordinator role will sit within the St Johns management team., situated within the management office in the shopping centre office and will be a hybrid role. The internship will be extended to run until the end of the World Cup tournament.
 

Skills and experience

This role is suitable for a 3rd-year university student looking to gain practical experience in project coordination, events, marketing, or placemaking within a live retail environment.

This role is suitable for someone with an interest in events, community engagement, marketing, and/or retail environments. They will have strong organisational and time management skills, and be able to communicate clearly and effectively through written and verbal communication.
 
The ability to work independently and as part of a team is required, and they will be a creative thinker with a proactive approach to problem solving. They will be expected to be confident using digital technology and have a good understanding of Microsoft office.
