Description

Role
To be responsible for the updating and development of the Departmental websites for the Departments of PAIS and Sociology, and to manage the Departments’ social media.

Duties and responsibilities

  1. Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Team, and Departmental Administrators to design, develop, improve and maintain the Departments websites. To ensure they reflect the caliber of the Departments, maintaining consistency, quality and integrity of the web sites, aligning them with the central University brand guidelines, and meeting the needs of the various target audiences. 
  2. Work primarily with the University's content management system (SiteBuilder) or other appropriate technology to publish or update online content. Using responsive web design to ensure web standards, usability and accessibility are implemented and maintained. 
  3. Acting as a key liaison with the Marketing and Communications Team, IDG colleagues and colleagues across the University to oversee the content of the Department’s websites remain up to date, consistent and on brand. 
  4. Overall responsibility for top-level website enhancements and managing the Departmental website development in terms of architecture, navigation, functionality, design and content. Generate ideas to keep the website looking fresh and dynamic, and run focus groups to ensure content is targeted and navigable. Ensure the site utilises SEO techniques to achieve consistently high rankings. 
  5. Manage the Department’s social media content to deliver interesting, relevant and interactive content to encourage engagement with the Departments, overseeing the implementation of targeted digital communications as required. 

Skills and experience

  • The successful candidate will possess an honours degree or equivalent and have experience of web development and social media management, experience of the management of websites and social media, and of managing projects. 
  • They will have experience of working within a project management framework and of managing relationships with a range of stakeholders. 
  • Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving methodology and diagnostic experience is a must along with proven, hands-on experience of the delivery of web services and social media management. 
  • Strong knowledge of design patterns and coding standards.
