About Neptune BreweryNeptune Brewery is an independent craft brewery based in Liverpool, established for over 10 years and employing around 10people. The business produces a distinctive range of craft beers and has built a strong local and regional reputation. 

As a small and growing business, Neptune Brewery is seeking to strengthen its digital marketing and social media engagement to increase brand visibility and audience interaction.Internship PurposeThis internship provides a structured learning opportunity for a Level 6 student to apply academic knowledge inmarketing, media, or business‑related subjects within a real SME environment.

The intern will support Neptune Brewery to improve its social media presence and digital marketing activity, while gainingpractical experience, mentoring, and insight into working within a small creative business. The role is time‑limited, supervised,and additional to existing staff capacity, and is designed to support student learning and skills development.

Duties and responsibilities

With appropriate supervision and guidance, the intern will:

Support the planning and delivery of social media activity across platforms such as Instagram and Facebook

Assist with creating engaging digital content, including:

Written posts

Images and short‑form video

Campaign ideas aligned to the Neptune Brewery brand

Help maintain a simple content schedule or calendar

Monitor and review social media engagement and performance metrics

Summarise insights and suggest practical improvements to increase reach and interaction

Support promotion of events, product launches, or seasonal campaigns

Contribute ideas to improve consistency and effectiveness of digital marketing activity

The role will be adjusted to reflect the internʼs level of study and experience, with Level 7 students encouraged to contribute

more analytical or strategic insight where appropriate.

Skills and experience

Education

Essential:

Studying a relevant subject, such as:

  • Marketing or Digital Marketing
  • Media Studies / Media & Communications
  • Business, Management, or Entrepreneurship
  • A related business or creative discipline

Desirable:

Course includes a placement, internship, consultancy, or work‑based learning element

Knowledge & Skills

Essential:

  • Strong interest in digital marketing and social media
  • Good written communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences
  • Basic understanding of how social media platforms are used for brand engagement
  • Competent IT and digital skills
  • Ability to organise tasks and manage time effectively

Desirable

  • Experience creating content for social media (through coursework, projects, or personal use)
  • Familiarity with basic analytics or engagement metrics
  • Understanding of branding, storytelling, or audience development

Experience

  • Experience gained through academic coursework, projects, or personal digital activity
