Role
The Resident Engagement Assistant supports the day-to-day running of the service by helping to create a safe, clean, and positive living environment for residents. Working alongside Support Workers, the role focuses on practical assistance, resident engagement, and promoting independence through everyday living activities. The post holder will contribute to maintaining high standards within the accommodation while encouraging residents to take pride in their home and participate in community life.

 
This role complements but does not replace the formal support function delivered by Support Workers.
 
This is a part time role working 16 - 20 hours poer week across weekdays and alternate weekends, in line with the service needs. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Support residents to engage in activities that promote wellbeing, routine, and social inclusion.
  • Plan and facilitate structured activity sessions, including activity days at the Ladies House.
  • Lone work for pre-approved, low-risk activities in line with service risk assessments and lone working procedures.
  • Assist residents with practical daily living tasks such as cleaning, cooking, laundry, and maintaining their personal space.
  • Support residents during move-ins and move-outs, including preparing rooms to the required standard.
  • Help maintain clean, safe, and welcoming communal areas.
  • Encourage residents to meet occupancy expectations.
  • Provide practical assistance to Support Workers in promoting tenancy sustainment and independence.
  • Observe and report any concerns relating to resident wellbeing, property condition, or safety.
  • Follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and confidentiality procedures.

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Ability to positively engage and motivate individuals.
  • Practical approach to supporting a clean and well-managed environment.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, professional, and flexible.
Desirable
  • Experience working within supported housing, homelessness, or community services.
  • Awareness of professional boundaries when working with vulnerable adults.
