Role

WMG’s Supply Chain Research Group is looking for a Supply Chain Data Scientist or Senior Data Scientist to become a part of the team AI-based supply chain solutions. This role involves transforming raw supply chain data into actionable insights, thus enhancing decision-making and predictability in supply chain operations.  This role represents an exciting opportunity for a data scientist to lead in the development of innovative AI-based solutions in the supply chain domain, driving growth and partnerships at WMG.

This is a temporary assignment until 30th August 2026.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Data Engineering and Big Data Management

  • Handle large, complex datasets from multiple systems
  • Clean, process, and structure data pipelines using modern data engineering tools (e.g., Python, SQL, Spark, Databricks).
  • Ensure data quality, version control, data governance, and documentation throughout the lifecycle of each project.

2. Delivery of Data Science Projects

  • Develop actionable roadmaps, detailed project plans, modelling strategies, and delivery milestones for industry and research projects.
  • Work collaboratively with supply chain domain specialists, software engineers, fellow data scientists, and industry partners to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Implement MLOps practices for reproducibility, scalability, and model monitoring.

3. Engagement, Collaboration & Partnership Development

  • Engage proactively with industry partners to understand their business needs, articulate value propositions, and co-create innovative data solutions.
  • Contribute to building long-term strategic partnerships and support WMG’s business development activities through technical insights and solution design.
  • Deliver impactful presentations, workshops, and training sessions for senior leaders, industry partners, and academic audiences on supply chain AI and digital transformation.

Skills and experience

  • A good honours or Masters degree Computer Science, Statistics, or relevant fields.
  • 1+ years of experience in data analytics and synthesizing insights.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and relevant libraries such as sklearn, pandas, Pytorch.
  • Proficient in multi-variate statistics and fundamentals of Machine Learning Algorithms.
  • Skilled in creating, training, and evaluating AI/ML models
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, data pipelines, and database systems.
  • Proven ability in presenting and facilitating meetings for senior managers and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to deal with and build relationships with collaborative partners
