Role
The Event
The West Midlands Tourism Awards is the region’s definitive celebration of excellence in the visitor economy. Organised by the West Midlands Growth Company, this prestigious black-tie ceremony brings together leading figures from tourism, hospitality and leisure – from major attractions and luxury hotels to independent culinary innovators.
The event acts as the regional heat for the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence, making it a high-profile occasion attended by industry leaders, VIP guests and media. The evening includes a drinks reception, three-course dinner and a live awards ceremony.
The Role
We are offering a select number of Media students the opportunity to join the official media team for this flagship event.
You will be responsible for capturing professional video content on the night, including:

- Capturing behind-the-scenes footage of the event
- Recording atmosphere, reactions and key moments throughout the evening
Following the event, you will use the footage as part of a project, producing a short promotional film that can also be used by the West Midlands Growth Company to market future awards.
Duties and responsibilities
- You will use UCB filming equipment and be responsible for bringing this to the event (camera, stabilisation, audio). Blackberry Events will provide a filming area and step and repeat to film against.
- You should be confident filming in a live, fast-paced, formal environment.
- You will be expected to work independently but professionally alongside event staff.
- You must be willing to share the final edited video with the Growth Company for promotional use.
