Description

Role
We are seeking a Data Scientist / AI Developer to lead the technical development and launch of two human-centred digital tools. You will be responsible for enhancing our AI Essay Analyst for its upcoming web-based rollout and architecting a new physio recovery tool. Your mission is to transform complex domain logic into intuitive, standalone web systems that restore user agency through structural clarity and high-fidelity, RAG-grounded AI responses.

Duties and responsibilities

  • To develop and to test browser-based/web models using advanced Python (incorporating various libraries and Large Language Models (LLMs)). 
  • The two tools should function as standalone web-based systems, potentially hosted via AWS (Amazon Web Services)
  • The focus is as much on that the tools are providing functional accuracy as well that the tools are appealing to the user, i.e., there is also a focus on User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX)

Skills and experience

  • Experienced in having previously successfully managed stand-alone projects or contributions as part of larger teams.
  • Programming and Coding (Python) to ensure that the tools provide the correct information.
  • Experience in Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to ensure the tool’s outputs are grounded in provided clinical/academic source documents that will be provided.
  • Interested in working on an appealing design and considering from the start the User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) to ensure that users want to use the tools.
  • Familiarity with Flask, Streamlit, Gradio or similar frameworks for rapid prototyping of web-based AI interfaces.
  • Ability to translate complex domain logic (e.g., musculoskeletal biomechanics or pedagogical writing frameworks) into structured AI prompts.
  • Experience in API cost optimization and latency management to ensure the LLMs and codes are efficient to keep the hosting costs (e.g., AWS-costs) low.
