This role sits within Roberts Recycling Ltd, a socially-driven textile recycling company that works with schools, councils, and community partners, developing sustainable, upcycling creative projects for students to access. The successful intern will be embedded in our Community & Partnerships Team, supporting a funded education programme delivered in collaboration with Hope Academy and St Helens Council.

Duties and responsibilities
The Sustainable Fashion Project Intern will support the delivery of the community fashion project culminating in a student-led upcycled fashion show in July 2026.
This internship offers valuable experience in
- Creative event planning,
- Fashion and design engagement
- Digital content creation
- Community partnership work.
It is ideal for a candidate interested in sustainable fashion, upcycling, youth engagement, and event support.
Skills and experience
This role is designed for a final-year Level 6 undergraduate student with an interest in sustainable fashion, creative practice, community engagement and event delivery. Previous professional experience is not essential, but enthusiasm, creativity and reliability are important.
- Creative interest in fashion, textiles or upcycling, with the ability to contribute ideas to workshop activities and a student fashion show.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including confidence engaging with young people, teachers and project partners in a professional and supportive manner.
- Organisation and time management, with the ability to support planning tasks, meet deadlines and contribute to event preparation.
- Basic digital content skills, such as photography, short-form video capture or social media awareness, with willingness to learn.
- Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work both independently and as part of a small project team.
Desirable Skills or Experience
- Experience of creative workshops, youth work, volunteering or education settings.
- Interest or knowledge relating to sustainability, circular fashion or textile reuse.
- Basic familiarity with creative software, mobile content creation or visual storytelling.
- Experience supporting events, exhibitions or performances.(These are desirable and not required for appointment.)
Suitable Degree Subjects

- Graphic Design or Digital Media
- Event Management
- Education Studies or Youth Work
- Sustainability, Environmental Studies or related disciplines
- Students from other courses will also be considered, as long as you have an interest in the topic.
