Role
We’re looking for a student who loves farming, the countryside, or the environment to help out on our Joined UP Landscapes stand this summer.
All training and information will be given prior to first show.
About the role:
- Chatting to farmers and visitors about what we do
- Helping run simple, interactive activities on the stand
- Talking about our ideas in an easy, down to earth way
- Gathering thoughts and feedback from the people you meet
The post requires strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for sustainable agriculture and environmental outcomes.
The role involves significant travel, independent working and confidence when interacting with the public.
The role reports to the School of Sustainable Food & Farming, and is available for current Harper Adams students to apply for.
Shows:
Balmoral Shows 12th May - availability needed 12th-16th May
Royal Cornwall Show 3rd June - availability needed 3rd-6th June
Cereals Event 9th June - availability needed 9th-11th June
Royal Highland Show 17th June - availability 17th-21st June
Groundswell 20th June - availability 30th June-2nd July
Great Yorkshire Show 13th July - availability 13th-17th July
Royal Welsh Show 19th July - availability 19th-23rd July
Position available for up to 2 candidates, willing to split the dates depending on availability.
Duties and responsibilities
- Engage with visitors
- Deliver knowledge and findings from the project
- Assist with event-based communications (including informal video or audio content)
- Uphold a professional, inclusive, and enthusiastic presence at all times.
- Help the team with stand preparation and dismantle
Please note, while the dress code is smart casual, strictly no open-toe footwear during the events.
Skills and experience
- Previous experience as an Ambassador or in events desirable but not essential
