Role
The Marketing and Events Officer (Knowledge Exchange) will represent the Joined UP Landscapes project at major UK agricultural shows and sector events. Acting as a knowledgeable and approachable ambassador, they will, engage farmers, land managers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders in conversations about nature-based solutions and joined-up land use.
The role involves delivering interactive on-stand activity, supporting creative knowledge exchange, capturing feedback and insights from the field, and helping translate research into practical learning.
The post requires strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for sustainable agriculture and environmental outcomes.
You will act as a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional ambassador for our work, engaging directly with farmers, land managers, advisors, policymakers, and industry representatives. You will help translate research findings into practical conversations, support creative on-stand activities, and capture insights from the field to feed back into the project.
The role involves significant travel, independent working, and representing multiple stakeholder perspectives with confidence and care.
The role reports to the School of Sustainable Food & Farming, and is available for current Harper Adams students to apply for.
Duties and responsibilities
- Represent the project at UK agricultural shows and sector events.
- Engage visitors in meaningful conversations about nature-based solutions and land-use change
- Support interactive stand activities and knowledge -exchange tools.
- Capture learning, feedback, and insights from stakeholders.
- Assist with event-based communications (including informal video or audio content)
- Uphold a professional, inclusive, and enthusiastic presence at all times.
Skills and experience
- The chosen candidate will be required to undergo manual handling and lone working training and a DBS check.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and engagingly to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence building rapport with farmers, land managers, researchers, and industry stakeholders.
- Experience in marketing, communications, outreach, events, or knowledge exchange are advantageous.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and represent an organisation professionally at external events.
- Genuine interest in agriculture, land use, and nature-based solutions, with an understanding of UK farming contexts.
- Experience supporting or delivering events, exhibitions, or public engagement activity.
- Desirable: experience creating event-based content (e.g. short videos, interviews, social media) and familiarity with research or university-led projects.
