Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Project Manager - Researcher Experience within the Organisational Development department. The role is to work the date of 16th February 2026 and will run until 17th July 2026 part time at 14.60 hours per week . Payment is set at £23.70+ holiday pay per hour and the role will be HYBRID based.

UCL Organisational Development function offers extensive development opportunities to its professional services, academic and research staff. The team is part of UCL HR and works with colleagues across the institution to enable UCL staff to achieve the academic mission set out in UCL 2034.
 
The Academic and Researcher Experience Team within Organisational Development works across functions to deliver strategic projects which engage and nurture early- and mid-career academics and researchers to be collaborative, supportive and creative in increasingly competitive and challenging environment. Current key projects include the Researcher Skills Development Programmes, Festival of Early-Stage Researchers (FESR), ECR Career Aspiration Programme.
 
This role reports directly to the Head of Academic and Researcher Experience, and work closely with colleagues across UCL to operationalise and enable the successful delivery of a number of key projects supporting doctoral researchers as well as ECRs

Duties and responsibilities

Project implementation – Researcher experience

  • Understand UCL People Plan to build an adaptable workforce and connected community, working closely with members of the Academic and Researcher Experience team to deliver timely products relating to Researcher Skills Development Programmes and vibrant event experiences to the researcher community.
  • Contribute to the Researcher Skills Development Programme systematic review and update content and learning journeys with relevant delivery partners in data-informed approach.
  • Work seamlessly with OD Operations team to deliver course contracting process, including Statement of Work and financial arrangements.
  • Provide project management and operation to ensure interventions are delivered on time and to a high standard
  • Taking on work as required by the needs of the team.

Engagement, Collaboration and Communication

  • Working with members of the Team to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders around the delivery of the Researcher Skills Development Programme and the Festival of Early-Stage Researchers (FESR).
  • Collaborate seamlessly with other OD Teams to ensure smooth operation for planned projects and programmes.
  • Build and maintain relationships across OD and share knowledge and expertise, ensuring insights are embedded in projects and programmes.

Organisational Development

  • Develop expertise to engage with the wider institution in a consultative approach in areas such as but not limited to: researcher development, design, delivery, facilitation and evaluation.

Skills and experience

  • Experience of working with researchers in Higher Education, and a sound understanding of the learning and development needs of the doctoral researchers and Early Career Researchers.
  • Experience of collaborating with a range of partners and stakeholders to drive changes and deliver projects in a complex organisation.
  • Experience of supporting the design, development, and delivery of interventions for researchers with demonstrable outcome.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and push forward to deliver outcome.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to drive high performance and measurable output with effective collaboration.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and tailor content effectively for different audiences.
  • Ability to produce and communicate simple and effective insights from consultation and data.
  • Highly organised with proven ability to operationalise multiple projects and switch between tasks for successful delivery.
  • Making inclusivity, diversity and (inter) cultural awareness core to actions and decision-making for self and team.
  • Listening closely, and speaking with clarity to all colleagues, staff, students, and partners.
  • Encouraging innovative approaches that benefit the organisation.
