Role

 
Our client is a leading waste management and recycling company based in Stoke-on-Trent, committed to providing efficient and sustainable solutions for businesses and individuals across the region. We are a fast-paced, dynamic organisation with a strong focus on environmental responsibility and customer satisfaction.
Our client is introducing a new accounting system and needs someone with accounting experience/study to come in and complete simple tasks to help with a successful transition to their new system.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Data cleanse in preparation for new system.
  • Allocation and reconciliation of customer accounts.
  • Allocation and reconciliation of Supplier accounts.
  • Bank reconciliation.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable team, with invoice queries and processing of invoices.
  • Review supplier statements.
  • Record daily PDQ payments.
  • Maintain financial and administrative security by following internal accounting controls and administrative procedures.
  • Ad hoc reporting to support the Finance team and Business systems team

Skills and experience

  • A degree in Accounting and Finance, Business, or a related field, OR a strong background in finance/accounting with demonstrable experience.
  • Proven experience in a finance administrative or assistant role is highly desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is paramount.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with accounting software packages (e.g., Xero, Sage) is beneficial but not essential as training will be provided.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and independent approach, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • A genuine desire to learn and contribute to the success of the finance team.
