Description
Role
The University of Edinburgh’s Information Services Group (ISG) are hiring two undergraduate students to work this summer as E-Resources Interns. The key purpose of this role is to download and collate e-resource usage statistics for SCONUL (Society of College, National and University Libraries) and renewals, testing and troubleshooting trials and new orders.
Within this role, you will gain practical experience in using Microsoft Excel in the workplace, the library management platform Alma and the e-resource archiving platform LOCKSS, collating statistics and editing database webpages. You will join the E-Resources team, who are responsible for managing Scotland’s largest academic library e-resource portfolio. This includes 2.4 million e-books, 266,000 e-journals, 210,000 streaming videos, and over 1000 licensed databases.
You can expect to start work on the 29th June 2026 and work until the 4th September 2026. You will work between a minimum of 25 to a maximum of 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday) in a hybrid working pattern split between working from home (commutable distance from Edinburgh) and in the Main Library. You will be required to attend the office on Tuesdays and another day of your choice. Your preference on working hours within the above range can be discussed during the interview stage. You will be paid £13.55 per hour, plus £2.45 per hour holiday pay. Payment is one month in arrears, meaning your first payment date (should this position start when expected) will be 28th August 2026.
