Role
The University of Edinburgh’s Information Services Group (ISG) are hiring two undergraduate students to work this summer as Web Content Interns. The key purpose of this role is to rebuild migrated content on EdWeb 2 websites, helping to ensure that all content within the migrated sites is making full use of the functionality within the new website platform and that issues are handled with consistency. EdWeb 2 is the University of Edinburgh’s in-house website platform. The platform hosts 60,000 published pages which are visited by 4.5 million users, generating more than 60 million unique-page view each year.
Within this role, you will gain practical experience in auditing and rebuilding web pages. You will join the University Website team who are responsible for the service and maintenance of the University website Platform, EdWeb 2. The team supports over 1900 web editors across the University of Edinburgh web estate, providing documentation, training and support materials to allow continuous creation, maintenance and ownership of their web content. You can expect to start work on the 1st June 2026 and work until the 21st August 2026. You will work 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday) in a hybrid working pattern split between working from home (commutable distance from Edinburgh), and in Forrest Hill. You will be required to attend the office a minimum of two days per week. You will be paid £13.55 per hour, plus £2.45 per hour holiday pay. Payment is one month in arrears, meaning your first payment date (should this position start when expected) will be 28th July 2026.

Duties and responsibilities
- Auditing and reviewing the content of web pages to assess the need for rebuilding content;
- Rebuilding page content using the available functionality within the content management system;
- Updating broken links/missing assets within the content of pages;
- Engaging with site owners/editors to advise of work completed, reporting back user feedback to the service team;
- Working with the team to ensure platform bugs are tracked and reported for resolution.
Skills and experience
Essential criteria:
- A current University of Edinburgh undergraduate student (you must be a matriculated student for the duration of your employment). Internships are open to all undergraduate students, except those in their final year of study;
- Based in the UK for the duration of the work, within commutable distance of Edinburgh, and able to work on campus (we cannot accommodate individuals working overseas due to tax and legal implications), and able to attend a Right to Work Check in person if needed;
- You must be able to attend an in-person interview on campus on the 24th or 25th March 2026;
- Proven experience managing content within a website content management system, such as Drupal, WordPress or similar;
- Evidence of a methodical and detail-oriented approach to work;
- A proven ability to manage own workload and prioritise tasks to ensure the most critical tasks are completed first and in a timely manner;
- Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proactive approach to supporting other team members.
Desirable criteria:
- Knowledge of web standards (e.g., accessibility);
- Knowledge of Excel or other spreadsheet software.
Location
Hybrid, split between working from home and in 5 Forrest Hill (EH1 2QL).
