Description
Role
- We are seeking a detail-oriented Instructional Video Editor to transform live lecture recordings into engaging, self-paced online learning videos. This role involves editing long-form lecture content into structured modules, enhancing clarity and flow, and adding light animations and visual elements to improve learner engagement.
- The ideal candidate understands how people learn online and can balance clean, professional editing with simple, purposeful motion graphics.
Duties and responsibilities
- Edit live lecture recordings into concise, learner-focused video segments
- Remove pauses, errors, off-topic sections, and repetition
- Organize content into logical chapters or modules
- Sync slides, screen recordings, and instructor video where applicable
- Adjust audio levels, color correction, and visual consistency
Learning-Focused Enhancements
- Add basic animations and motion graphics (e.g., lower thirds, callouts, highlights, simple transitions)
- Emphasize key points visually using text overlays or graphical cues
- Ensure pacing and structure support self-paced learning
- Apply consistent branding, templates, and style guidelines
Content Management & Delivery
- Export videos in formats optimized for learning management systems (LMS)
- Organize files and versions clearly for review and updates
- Collaborate with instructors or curriculum designers to clarify intent
- Implement feedback and revisions efficiently
Skills and experience
- Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
- Basic motion graphics/animation experience (e.g., After Effects, Premiere templates, Canva, or similar)
- Strong audio editing skills (noise reduction, leveling, clarity)
- Familiarity with screen capture and slide-based contentInstructional Awareness
- Understanding of how long-form lectures translate into effective online learning
- Ability to identify and reinforce learning objectives visually
- Experience with self-paced or asynchronous learning content (preferred)
Professional Skills
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Clear communication and receptiveness to feedback
- Comfort working with repetitive or high-volume content
Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills/Qualifications
- Experience in e-learning, instructional design, or educational media
- Familiarity with LMS platforms (Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, etc.)
- Experience creating captions or accessibility-friendly content
- Knowledge of basic learning principles (chunking, cognitive load, pacing)
- Experience with templates and scalable production workflows
