Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Research Impact Evidence Assistant (UCL Graduates Only). This role is for an asap start date (early February) and has a projected end date of early February 2027. This is a part-time role at 7.3 hours per week on average. Payment is set at £23.11 per hour + £4.33 holiday pay. This role will be UCL hybrid working; part remote working and part from UCL Campus.

UCL’s Office of the Vice-Provost for Research Innovation and Global Engagement (RIGE) and the Faculty of Brain Sciences are seeking a postgraduate research assistant to help with the development of impact case studies for submission to REF2029.

Duties and responsibilities

The Research Impact Assistant will work with the Faculty Vice Dean for Research, the Central UCL Impact Team, and academics to compile a database of potential policy research impact case studies and associated existing sources of evidence. They will also identify missing impact evidence or sources in need of strengthening.
 
This post has been created specifically to identify potential policy-related impact case studies, in response to a dedicated UCL-wide grant scheme to support Faculties’ REF policy engagement impact planning and development. 
 
Faculties within Life and Medical Sciences will be required to submit 50-60 impact case studies to REF, across a number of units of assessment (UOAs): UOA1 (Clinical Medicine); UOA2 (Public Health, Health Services and Primary Care); UOA3 (Dentistry and Pharmacy); UOA4 (Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience); and UOA5 (Biological Sciences).

Skills and experience

  • Training on impact, identifying and evidencing impact will be provided. 
  • An interest in or experience of translational research or the politics and policy implications of research (especially health research) would be an advantage.
