Are you passionate about baking goods and love working in a fast-paced retail environment? We’re looking for a Bakery Assistant to join our team at the new Co-op store on campus.
Shift Pattern: 5 over 7, shift anything between 06:30am till 08:00 pm or 10pm till 06:00am.
Duties and responsibilities
Ensure the bakery is adequately stocked, which will involve:
- Baking goods and packaging to SOPs
- Ensuring all food hygiene, labelling and allergen SOPs are complied with
- Replenishing displaying stock to planogram following the SOP
- Re-stocking the shelves throughout the day to ensure they are filled to an appropriate level
Serve customers in a thoughtful polite, considerate manner:
- Monitoring and supporting customer when using the bakery, with product information and when next bakes are due on sale
- Take time to speak to customers, understand their feedback and any opportunity for potential community links
- Responding quickly and positively to customer questions
Ensure the bakery is maintained and presented in a ‘customer ready’ state:
- Cleaning up rubbish
- Ensuring items are in the right place
- Clearing up spillages, maintaining a consciousness of Health and Safety implications
Skills and experience
- Previous retail experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A team player with a proactive approach
- Reliable, punctual, and well-presented
