Role
The Helpdesk Administrator is responsible for being the first point of contact for student enquiries at the SHMS Helpdesk reception, providing advice and assistance to students on all issues related to their study, under the guidance and direction of the Senior Department Operations Coordinator. The SHMS Helpdesk is located at Myddelton Street, Northampton Square with a newly created SHMS Helpdesk located in Tait Building.

Duties and responsibilities
Their key responsibilities include dealing with a wide range of general enquiries from students, prospective students, City staff, members of the public and visitors to the School. 

 
The post holder will normally be the first contact for student enquiries advising on a wide range of course related matters as well as dealing with general enquires from prospective students.
 
The Helpdesk Administrator will be predominately based on the student Helpdesk with support from members of SHMS Student and Academic Administration, due to the Helpdesk opening hours (Monday to Friday, 9-5).
 
The Helpdesk Administrator will also provide general administrative support to the Student and Academic Administration across a wide range of tasks and ad hoc projects.

Skills and experience

- Educated to A Level, or equivalent 

- Working knowledge and understanding of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) legislation and confidentiality

- Able to demonstrate commitment to a high standard of customer service, this includes but is not limited to empathetic response, intuitive decision making, and working with a wide range of customers

- Strong interpersonal communication, as well as active listening skills

- Ability to deal with all levels of staff and contacts on a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues, and to exercise tact, diplomacy and integrity at all times

- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills

- Excellent numeracy skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

- Confident in the use of IT systems and online file management such as: OneDrive, SharePoint, MS Teamsites, MS Office Packages (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc). Competence in the use of MS Office packages, in particular the manipulation of database information and the design of spreadsheets.

- Ability to multi-task, prioritise, and delegate work effectively whilst also managing conflicting priorities/deadlines. This includes the ability to analyse problems and identify potential solutions

- Capable of working under pressure with a high volume of people

- Ability to work within a team and independently

- Awareness and commitment to promoting the standards of equality, inclusivity, and diversity within the workplace
