Description
Role
Impact Interns will undertake predominantly desk-based research and utilise various impact capture systems and data analysis programmes such as NVIVO to provide evidence for developing research impact case studies within our pipeline. Supervised by Impact Development Officers and coordinating with Departmental Impact Directors and Case Study Leads, interns will gather and curate evidence, write case studies, and where relevant and appropriate contact research beneficiaries directly. On occasion and if relevant to the case study during their contract they may be expected to attend relevant events in-person (local/UK based and if required eligible travel costs would be covered) or online to capture testimonials and quotes from attendees. Their work ensures all claimed impacts are eligible and clearly evidenced for potential submission to the Research England Framework (REF).
All training will be provided at the start of the internship and interns will be supervised by experienced members of the Research Impact team throughout their contract.
Beyond the initial training and organising occasional meetings during suitable office hours to meet with the Impact Development Officers and relevant staff members of hosting departments E.g. Impact Directors, Impact Case Study Lead/s etc., the role allows the candidate to choose their own hours, provided the total submitted hours for the 5-month contract do NOT exceed 70 hours. The candidate may choose to spread the work out evenly across all 5 months, or to concentrate the hours into months that suit them/their studies. E.g., logging more hours during April over the Easter Break.
