Role
The Faculty of Arts is recruiting two student project officers (UG/PGT) to support a faculty-level student–staff co-created exhibition celebrating diverse ways of demonstrating learning in the Arts and Humanities. These practice-based projects will directly address key recommendations from the recent Arts Toolkit report and integrate insights from the OfS report. The project showcases assessment-based student work across a wide range of formats, including written, creative, digital, and practice-based outputs. The project will will foreground assessment diversity as an inclusive education strategy, recognising that there is no single way to demonstrate learning in the Arts.
Student Project Officers will co-lead the planning, promotion, and delivery of the Arts Assemble exhibition. This role offers hands-on experience in curation, arts management, inclusive education, and student leadership, working closely with peers, postgraduate mentors, and faculty staff.Duties and responsibilities
Student Engagement & Outreach
- Lead promotion of the exhibition across Arts departments.
- Support the faculty-wide call for submissions.
- Engage with student societies, networks, and peers to encourage participation.
Curation & Exhibition Development
- Support reviewing and categorising student submissions based on assessment type.
- Assist with curatorial decisions for physical and digital displays.
- Help design inclusive exhibition narratives and labels.
Communications & Promotion
- Support Instagram and digital promotion (e.g. Canva posts).
- Assist with poster design and publicity materials.
- Help document the exhibition through photos or short reflections.
Event Delivery
- Support installation and de-installation of the exhibition.
- Co-organise the launch reception and welcome contributors.
- Act as ambassadors for Arts Assemble during the exhibition week.
Reflection & Evaluation
- Contribute to a student-authored curatorial reflection.
- Take part in evaluation and feedback activities.
- Share recommendations for future iterations.
Skills and experience
Essential Criteria
- Current UG or PGT student in the Faculty of Arts.
- Interest in Arts, Humanities, creativity, or student engagement.
- Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Reliable, organised, and enthusiastic.
Desirable Criteria
- Interest in exhibition-making, arts management, or inclusive education.
- Experience with social media, Canva, or creative projects.
- Confidence communicating with peers and staff.
Location
Hybrid – some on-campus presence required for mentoring and events.
