Role

Unitemps are recruiting for a Student Project Researcher within the Student Support and Wellbeing department. The role is to work the date of Monday 23rd February 2026 and will run until Friday 12th June 2026 part time at 5 hours per week . Payment is set at £15.00+ holiday pay per hour and the role will be HYBRID based.

Beyond the SoRA is a programme commissioned by UCL to re-assess and re-develop reasonable adjustments. As such, wholesale changes will be made in how staff manage, process, and ultimately understand disability and reasonable adjustments. The initiative reflects UCL’s recognition, supported by institutional data and sector-wide evidence, that improving the systems, culture, and practices around reasonable adjustments is essential to supporting and enhancing disabled students’ success.

To support the implementation of the Beyond the SoRA programme, we have developed a comprehensive training framework designed to equip staff with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support disabled students. This training outline is grounded in survey data and a thorough review of existing resources, ensuring it addresses institution-specific needs.

Developing this training is vital to empowering UCL’s staff and student community to navigate change confidently, promote best practices, and implement reasonable adjustments effectively. It will serve as a key deliverable for the success of the Beyond the SoRA programme.

The Project Researchers will support the Beyond the SoRA Training and Development Workstream by co-creating digital training resources to help UCL staff better understand and implement reasonable adjustments. The role focuses on ensuring the training reflects the lived experience of disabled and marginalised students, is inclusive, and meets the needs of the UCL community.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Review and adapt the draft training outline into accessible, practical content
  • Gather insights from students, staff, and relevant stakeholders (e.g., Students’ Union, Faculty staff, disabled and neurodivergent students)
  • Research sector-wide good practice and resources on inclusive education and reasonable adjustments
  • Support co-creation sessions, taking notes, synthesising feedback, and integrating suggestions
  • Contribute to drafting training content and supplementary resources (guides, FAQs, resource lists)
  • Collaborate with the project learning designer and project team to test and refine the training
  • Assist in pilot delivery and contribute to evaluation activities, including reporting

Skills and experience

  • Currently enrolled Postgraduate Research UCL student.
  • Experience with equity, inclusion, and student success in higher education, ideally reasonable adjustments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and students, valuing different perspectives.
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Ability to manage tasks independently, meet deadlines, and stay organised.
  • Lived experience of disability, neurodivergence, or other marginalised identity (voluntary disclosure).
  • Familiarity with reasonable adjustments and/or inclusive teaching practices. Experience in research, student partnership, or co-creation projects
  • Basic knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., digital accessibility, universal design for learning)
