Description

Role

We are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to support the delivery of a project entitled: Barriers to uptake and participation in green energy skills provision: East Midlands Regional Policy Forum.

 

This initiative, co-led by the University of Nottingham and Nottingham College, aims to facilitate knowledge exchange and skills-focused impact amongst stakeholders with responsibility for Further and Vocational Education in Nottingham and the East Midlands.

 

Start Date: 30/01/2026

End Date: 26/06/2026

Working Hours: Hours are flexible and infrequent, arranged in consultation with the project team.

Pay Rate: £17.02 per hour

Holiday Pay Rate: £2.05 per hour

Location: Jubilee Campus UoN, Nottingham College & remote

Dress Code: Smart Casual 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist with case study research in partnership with Nottingham College. This will focus on the identification of examples of barriers to uptake and participation in green energy skills provision, through secondary and primary data collection.
  • Support logistical planning for the forum (venue arrangements, invitations, materials).
  • Contribute to drafting internal reports and the final Strategic Report.
  • Liaise with project partners and stakeholders as required.

Skills and experience

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in research support, including literature review and data collation.
  • Experience of primary data collection via interviews
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks to deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competence in using Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools.
  • Interest in Further Education colleges, vocational education and skills development

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in event planning or stakeholder engagement.
  • Understanding of policy and curricular in Further Education.
  • Ability to synthesise complex information into accessible formats.
  • Previous experience working on collaborative projects with external partners.

UoN Jubilee Campus, Nottingham College and remote.
