Role
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Dispensing Assistant to join our clients team at a local GP practice. The role is to cover sickness and may lead to a longer or more perm basis.The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the dispensing process, ensuring accurate and efficient service to our customers. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in healthcare support roles, with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining high standards of accuracy and organisation. The role involves working closely with pharmacy staff to assist in dispensing medications, managing customer enquiries, and maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the dispensing area.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications accurately and efficiently to customers.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing queries and offering guidance on medication usage.
  • Maintain organised records of dispensed medicines and customer interactions in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure the dispensing area is clean, tidy, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
  • Support inventory management by checking stock levels and notifying relevant personnel of shortages or expired items.
  • Operate IT systems related to medication dispensing and record keeping with proficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth workflow and high-quality service delivery.
  • Uphold confidentiality and data protection standards at all times.

Skills and experience

  • Prior experience in customer service or healthcare support is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with customers and team members.
  • Good organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in dispensing medicines.
  • Basic IT skills, including familiarity with pharmacy management systems or similar software.
  • Leadership qualities are desirable for supporting team activities and ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Ability to work well under pressure whilst maintaining a professional attitude.
  • A genuine interest in healthcare support roles, coupled with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer care.
