Role

The Doctoral College is undertaking a project that will contribute to raising the visibility of the diverse contributions of doctoral researchers to research by delivering the design for an online repository and methodology for identifying, collating and using information on doctoral researchers’ contributions to research.

The aim of this project is to identify a solution to capturing the full, diverse range of doctoral student contributions to research and, in doing so, to facilitate active recognition of these contributions. The Project assistant will be dedicated to the project.  They will be an experienced, confident all-round administrator with experience of supporting projects.  They will provide efficient project administration with minimal supervision ensuring that the project is equipped to deliver on time.  They will also be expected to undertake some of the research necessary to fulfil the project.

Duties and responsibilities

1.Contribute to the design and development of an online repository.

2. Provide efficient administrative support for project activities.

3. Assist with data collection, management and analysis. 

4. Draft reports to disseminate progress and outcomes relating to the project.

5. Work closely with the project lead and other stakeholders, including postgraduate researchers.

6. Contributing to events that foster researcher engagement and celebrate their research as a community. 

7. Undertake any other tasks necessary to meet project objectives and support the team.

Skills and experience

Essential Criteria: 

• Knowledge of doctoral research – including requirements, processes, activities and impact of research. 

• Experience with database systems (e.g., data entry, data management, and ensuring data integrity).

• Experience in using digital tools and platforms for research and project delivery.

• Experience of undertaking qualitative research including analysis.

• Experience of project management.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including in a project management context, with the ability to communicate effectively according to the audience and mode. 

• Ability to manage a varied (and changing) portfolio of work effectively and efficiently. 

• Ability to operate effectively as a team member and exercise a high level of independence.

• Ability to manage and respond to the expectations of multiple stakeholders.

• Confident and competent IT user with experience of quickly learning and using unfamiliar systems.

• Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

• Ability to influence the work of others without being in a position of authority.

Desirable:

•    Experience in coordinating workshops and events.
