Description

Role
The purpose of this post is to ensure high quality and accurate Access and Participation Plan (APP) ethics applications. Ensuring the support is in place to help non-specialist evaluators accurately complete ethics applications to support their delivery needs and the evaluation of the APP.

Duties and responsibilities

• To ensure that APP ethics forms are submitted to the designated ethics board accurately and in a timely manner. 

• To work with Activity Leaders in the APP to complete their ethics forms to a high standard.

• To ensure the process of ethical submission is followed accurately including an ethics application, data management plan, participant information sheet and consent form.

• To work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders relevant to the role.

• Review draft ethics applications for errors and offer feedback to correct them.

• Support APP Intervention Activity Leads resolve questions posed by the ethics panel

• To be a competent user in the relevant software and procedures associated with the UON ethics process.

• To take responsibility for the quality of own advice and support given to university staff.

• To develop good working relationships with colleagues in other departments of the University, particularly the members of the APP Governance Structure and Research and Enterprise Directorate.

Generic Duties and Responsibilities

• Undertake all activities and actions in accordance with departmental standards, processes and procedures using tools as required.

• The post holder will be responsible and accountable for ensuring all employment legislative requirements are adhered to including equality and diversity and health and safety issues. 

• The job description may be altered at any time in the future in line with the level of the post to meet changing institutional requirements, but only in full consultation with the post holder.

• The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as reasonably requested by the Senior Researcher in ISII 

Skills and experience

An honours degree 

To be a 1st year PhD student

Excellent attention to detail

Experience of identifying errors in process and considering how those errors might be resolved

Awareness of the process of ethical approval

Demonstrable experience of producing documentation to a high degree of accuracy Demonstrable commitment to data integrity

Good level of IT knowledge and skills in using IT based systems (MS Office)

Ability to work to deadlines 

Experience creating a programme of support and train colleagues on the process of ethics submission at UON

Ability to adapt to organisational change

Ability to adapt to technological advances in the workplace

Ability to manage workload 

Ability to prioritise tasks

Ability to negotiate and communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Additional information

Please note this role is suitable for 1st year PHD students only.  

The successful candidate will work for 40 hours over the duration of the role with it coming to an end by the end of March 26 and starting asap.
