Role
IT Officer for 'Let's do the time walk again: Exploring the East Kent coast through digital heritage', funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.

You will work with the project team to: create the template for 4 websites across the partner museums; provide technical training and ongoing support for volunteers; maintain the websites for the duration of the project; answer email queries.

Duties and responsibilities
The post holder will:

  • design a website model using github
  • provide full documentation for training and reference purposes
  • train volunteers to develop and maintain sites for use in a digital heritage project.
The post holder will be required to work across 4 museums, training volunteers face to face.
Effective communication and relationship management across multiple and varied stakeholders is a key requirement of this role.
Reporting to the Project Leads, the post-holder will be required to interact and work cooperatively with the wider team to ensure high-quality project management support.

Skills and experience
The successful applicant will demonstrate skills in coding and design, time management, and project delivery, as well as the ability to communicate with non-specialists of varying abilities. A background in History or Heritage would be an advantage.

Skills and experience:
• Degree in a relevant subject or equivalent work experience
• Excellent communications skills, both oral and written
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a challenging and varied workload across multiple sites, whilst working to deadline
• Experience of web design and maintenance
• Relevant professional level experience, preferably including working with external partners and funding bodies
• Experience of working with diverse groups
• Project management and training experience would be an advantage

Benefits
This is a hybrid role, with designated days based in the museums and remaining hours in the museums or WHF according to the needs of the project.

The current job end date will be on 30 July 2027.
