Role

The Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies (CIM) is a cross-faculty research centre that fosters innovative and experimental forms of knowledge production through a sustained focus on methodology. We expand the role of interdisciplinary inquiry across boundaries of arts, sciences, technology, and society. We come together to tackle real-world challenges in curious, critical and creative ways.

The Impact Officer will work with researchers in CIM and with Impact experts in Research and Impact Services to support development of impact case studies for Visual Arts, Art History, Computer Science, Politics and International Development, and Sociology, for REF 2029. The Impact Officer will support five impact case study leads to develop plans for gathering evidence, and establish tools for tracking and gathering evidence to inform the impact case studies.  

This position will report to the Director of Research and Impact, and work closely with the Deputy Director of Research and Impact, as well as academic staff, PSS staff and Warwick Research and Impact Services.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Work collaboratively with the Directors of Research and Impact, with academics leading impact case studies, and project staff at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies to review draft impact case studies, and identify evidence needed to support impact claims;

2. Develop monitoring and evaluation plans in collaboration with each impact case study lead; 

3. Support each impact case study lead to identify how and when evidence or data will be collected by leads for each impact case study;

4. Summarise these plans in a 5-page memo to the CIM Research Committee;

5. Any other duties commensurate with the nature and grade of the post.

Skills and experience

Essential: 

• A Masters degree in a relevant field 

• Familiarity with REF and impact case studies

• Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and work with a number of partners efficiently

• Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills

• Proactive, flexible, and able to resolve a variety of challenges as these arise

• Highly reliable 

• Able to work independently 

• Excellent verbal and written fluency in English

• Meticulous attention to detail
